Painting Conservator
We are currently seeking an experienced Painting Conservator

40 hours per week (fulltime) for 1 year, starting as soon as possible, with the possibility to renew your contract for another 1–2 years.


What kind of projects will you be working on?


The conservator will be part of a team responsible for the optimal conservation and restoration of paintings in our care, ranging from Old Masters’, Modern and Contemporary paintings. This will include thorough assessment of the art works, technical imaging, reference-based research, reporting, as well as undertaking top quality conservation and restoration.


Who are we looking for?


-A conservator holding a master’s degree from a recognized art conservation program with a specialization in paintings;

-Substantial practical experience (minimum of 5 years) and the ability to develop and undertake innovative treatments;

-Solid knowledge of art history

-Experienced in technical imaging and reference-based research;

-Constructive team member who can also work independently;

-Fluency in English – written and verbal; 

-Basic photography skills and ability to work with Apple devices for documentation purposes and mapping

-Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize; 

-Ability to work within deadlines in a fast pace of a private conservation studio;

-A pro-active, passionate and industrious colleague who works according to high standards;

-Acquired skills and experience in technical imaging – using X-radiography, Infra-red reflectography, 

-Ultraviolet imaging and pigment analysis – would be a real plus.


Terms of employment


The position is for 1 year. The contract may be extended by 1-2 years. Depending on education and experience, the gross monthly salary for a fulltime position of 40 hours per week, will be between € 2500,- and € 4500,-. In addition, you will receive an annual holiday allowance of 8%, travel expenses and a monthly mobile phone contribution of €20,-.
