CONSERVATION OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART

Studio Redivivus is highly specialized in the conservation of Modern and Contemporary Art. Modern art presents unique conservation challenges in terms of unconventional materials, inherent vice (inherent fault) and generally fragile surfaces.

Our process involves consulting the artist when desirable, art historians, curators and fellow experts to understand the intentionality and material language of the artwork. If necessary, research and analysis is carried out, during which time the object is examined with advanced scientific analytical tools.

Once we have established a treatment approach and it is approved by the client, we embark on further testing to validate our procedures before treating the object. The most advanced tools and technology are used to carry out procedures and every step is fully documented with photographic documentation and written treatment reports.
